In coherence mode (as shown) both Windows and Mac programs run side by side - Windows isn't stuck inside the Parallels window any more - and the dock and Windows menu are both available. Very slick.
Dvorak calls me a "joiner." Someone who signs up for every new site he sees. True dat. But sometimes they're really worth signing up for, and how do you know until you do? I'll give you an example.
I've always wanted to do a Tumblelog, somewhere - not quite as formal as a blog - to stick all the random cool stuff I come across day to day. The coolest example out there is project.ioni.st (don't click that link just yet because you'll never return - it's that engaging), but there are several others like the original, Anarchaia.
The canonical way to do this is to install Ruby on Rails and Ozimodo. It's very easy unless you're using Apache. Then it gets a little harder. I just don't have the nerve to mess with either of my production servers (TWiT.tv or techguylabs.com), so my dream of creating a TWiT tumblelog has been thwarted. Until now.
tumblr.com makes it trivial to create a tumblelog. Merlin Mann did it first. He inspired me (in more ways than one) to use tumblr to create tumbléo.com. I'm not cheating on you Vox, honest. I can love two blogging engines at once. Hey, I've got six sites running on three different CMS systems and two different forum engines right now.
So now between Vox, Twitter, and Tumblr, there are no limits to my self-expression.
Ideally all this stuff would be collected into a single site. And someday I hope to do just that.
The first step is to move the the radio show site and my home page, both now in PMWiki, to Vox's sister platform, Moveable Type. Once that's done (hello Apperceptive, where are you?) I will merge all my old blog postings (now in Expression Engine format) into Vox and crosspost into MT.
Phase two will be to find a Tumblelog template for MT (got one?) and incorporate tumbléo into the site.
Twitter will just have to stay a widget on the site.
That's three sites reduced into one. What about the other three sites? I don't anticipate moving TWiT in at this point; Drupal is working so well for it. And the message boards for TWiT and Leoville will stay where they are, twit.tv/forums (running Vanilla) and leovilletownsquare.com (running FusionBB), respectively.
Meanwhile enough voxing around, I've got some cool stuff to post on tumbléo.

Saturday after my premiere radio show (on Premiere Radio Networks no less) Jennifer and I decided to celebrate by kayaking down the Petaluma river. It's not really a river - it's a tidal slough - but it's very calm and there's little traffic. It was a perfect day.
I'm launching my new national radio show tomorrow and I've completely lost my voice. Freud would have something to say about this.
My buddy Al, the throat doc, is telling me to shut up for 24 hours, so I'm canceling everything and going home to rest my voice. But I have to say one more thing before I do: yippee!
The Tech Guy radio show launches on Premiere Radio Networks tomorrow with the following stations, and more are joining every hour (including a really big announcement soon I hope).

Some of the TWiT hosts will have short segments on the show. The plan is to have one three minute segment each hour at around 23 minutes past the hour. This week Steve Gibson and Paul Thurrott will be on talking security and Vista, respectively. Next week Amber MacArthur, Dick DeBartolo, Merlin Mann, and Ron Rosberg will join the line-up.
Our national launch sponsors will be DSLExtreme and Carbonite (thanks guys!), and thanks to KFI and Premiere Radio Networks for making it happen!
The new chat channel at irc.dslextreme.com is #techguy. The new call-in number is toll-free 1-888-8 ASK LEO (that's 1–888–827–5536).
See you tomorrow (even if you don't hear me!)
Happy Valentine's Day. These looked so good at my local bakery that I just had to snap them. (I didn't eat them, though - I'm on a strict diet for the launch of the Lab.)
I'm back from vacation. I had to jump ship on the Geek Cruise to handle an urgent family matter (all's well now - nothing to worry about) but I decided to use the empty block of time to relax. I've got a new radio show and a new TV show launching this month, so this might be the last time off for a while.
During the break I caught up on some movies and TV. I just saw the Studio 60 Christmas episode and I think it might be the best, most satisfying, television show I've ever seen. If you've missed this NBC series from Aaron Sorkin of West Wing fame, you probably should see the first 10 episodes to set up episode 11. I often despair about the state of television, but when it's good, it's better than any other medium. It's both inspiring and terrifying (well, for someone who aspires to do good TV, that is).
Vacation ends today. Amber and I will be back with a new net@nite live via Talkshoe tomorrow at 9p Eastern (0200 GMT) and a brand new TWiT is going up at one minute past midnight Monday morning (I'm holding it a little longer than usual because Dvorak revealed some news that's embargoed until then). I also have a new FLOSS Weekly and this WEEK in LAW to post this week. Monday I'll post a visit to the actual Gadget Warehouse, recorded when I was with Dick DeBartolo in Manhattan last week.
Before I left on vacation I had a great conversation with the people at Vox. I've been looking for a web backend for the new Tech Guy radio show. The wiki I'm using now just doesn't offer the social networking features I'm looking for. Thanks to Anil Dash and the folks at Six Apart I think I'm moving to Movable Type /Typepad (not sure which right now) with a new design from Apperceptive. We'll continue to use the wiki until that's done.
I'm also commissioning a theme song from the great Ashley Witt. Ash has done so many of the TWiT themes including Doin' the TWiT.
The show launches in one week - I'll have a final list of affiliates soon.
