Steadicam

That's so cool Leo, can't wait to see the final show!
I want one. And I want it to cost $100. Just the mount, not the camera. ☺

Always love to see what goes on behind the scenes

I owned a Steadicam JR (don't call it "junior") and worked with it a lot in the early and mid-90's for my video shoots. I think it was around $500, but it was well worth it. If you're really smart, you can build one, I suspect.

MAKE Magazine had an article on building your own steadicam a while ago. Try http://makezine.com/01/stabilizer/ or http://www.makezine.com/blog/archive/2006/03/improved_steadicam_for_under_4.html

Also an interesting design at http://www.instructables.com/id/E2VFMXKTHDEXCFHMV5/

I wanted to go to Wikipedia to see the correct history however it did not work.

However...

The mount was invented by a Philadelphian Garret Brown and was first use in the film Bound for Glory but made history when it was used to film the famous step scene in the first Rocky movie.

I like to watch the "behind the scnenes" videos. It's fascinating to see the process of creation from this angle :)
