Grandmaster, former US Champion, (and a long time hero of mine) Larry Christiansen played a 10 game simul last night. He beat me. Twice. In about 20 minutes. A humbling experience, but a whale of a good time. That's former Women's World Chess Champion, Susan Polgar, in the pink coat in back. Her son (who can't have been more than five) was playing next to me. He lasted a lot longer than I did.

I find it funny that I five your old can play chess better than someone ten times his age. hehehe
To be fair, I suck at Chess as well. So your not alone Leo.

I once had a 10 year old whip me so badly in a race to 5 games that I gave chess up for a month. Then, I found out the kid had already won some regional tournament, beating out guys that were at least 10 years older than me, and had been playing all their lives! Sometimes, it just doesn't go your way, and that one mistake can't be made up for, only compounded by the next. And the good players (not myself, by far) capitalize on that.

You lasted 20 minutes with him? Actually that's something to be proud of. :-)

My dad taught me how to play when I was 6. He always wanted to play - and beat me badly every time. I think that was the incentive for me to really learn to play. One day I beat him. Funny, he hasn't wanted to play since. :-)
