iTunes Subversion
Thanks to Nik who is taking my campaign to rename "podcasts" to "netcast" right to the source: iTunes. Nik explains how to modify iTunes so it says "Netcasts" instead of the hated "Podcasts."
He warns that you can screw up your iTunes, but it's really pretty straightforward. You're just replacing the localized strings - a feature Apple has designed into all its programs for easy translation. The screen shot at left comes from iTunes 7.0.1.
Thanks, Nik!

I am still trying to decide which way to go on the issue, but rest assured your voice is getting out there. I think I will put this in my own show that I do here on my Vox.
Leo if this was Microsoft doing this you would be railing against them because of there evil company. Why do you allow apply to do this?
'I like Apple products' does not equal 'I like Apple' all the time.
My real point - and I think I haven't made this very clearly - is that while the word has been successful in many ways, it paints us into a corner now. For example, Microsoft will never use the word in its Zune or Vista. In fact, there's no support for podcasts in either product. If podcasting is to grow we need to transcend the impression that it requires Apple products to listen. If other companies are afraid to step on Apple's toes, that will never happen.
But hey I like netcasts, but I don't think Apple will really change it unless people stop calling them podcasts, ad that won't happen soon.
P.S. I love the Flaming Lips reference Leo.
